  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic until fragrant (3-4 minutes).
  2. Add ground lamb or beef; cook until browned (6-8 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Stir in diced carrots and frozen peas; cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Boil potatoes until tender (15 minutes), then mash with butter and cream until smooth.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Layer meat mixture in a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes, and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
