  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this dry mix alternating with milk to the wet mixture.
  5. For the crumb topping, mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter until crumbly; fold in nuts if desired.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan, layer half of the crumb topping, add remaining batter, then top with leftover crumbs.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
