  • Red gel food coloring
  • Green gel food coloring
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Cream together softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy (3-5 minutes).
  2. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually mix in all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms; don’t over-mix.
  4. Divide dough into two portions; color one half red and the other green using gel food coloring.
  5. Roll each colored dough into rectangles on parchment paper about 1/4-inch thick.
  6. Layer the rectangles, roll into a log shape, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice chilled logs into 1/4-inch rounds and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool completely then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
